What a Way to Go

Battlestar Galactica was a fun show back in 1978 and 1979. There were only 24 episodes. It wasn't very serious, but there were some heavy moments. For the most part though, it was just fun. The latest version that debuted in 2003, and just ended a couple of days ago, was very dark and very intense. There were about 83 episodes and there was no doubt it was a drama all the way. I looked forward to every episode and suffered through the breaks between seasons. I loved the series until, unfortunately, the last show, or better yet, the last hour of the last show. It left me feeling foolish for all the people I told to watch the series because the end is so lame. I feel like I wasted a whole lot of time!

Human-looking Cylons, Starbuck is a girl, Baltar has an imaginary sexy Cylon girlfriend, and the whole human race, what's left of it, is in constant peril. This show was great. I was on the edge of my seat every week! The whole idea was that the humans were on a quest for Earth and their salvation. And in season 4 when they found Earth it was a polluted, bombed out wasteland. That might have been a good ending, but we went back into space.

Finally, after more war with the Cylons, a truce is struck. Weakened by it's old age and all it's battlescars, the Galactica is about to burst at every seam. One last jump. Where will it be? Cara puts in the coordinates and zap! Where are we? Coming in over the Moon we see Earth! It is Earth. The continent of Africa is clearly visible. The go down and what do they find? Earth 150,000 BC. What do they decide? They are going to give up any comforts of technology and live off the land! All 38,000 survivors agree! They split up in groups on different continents. And the little girl who is a human/cylon hybrid turns out to be the common ancestor of all humans on Earth.

There are so many things that can go wrong I don't know when to start. Predators, weather, indigenous people, and lack of medical care, these people would all be dead in a month! I'm so frustrated by this ending, I have no more to say!
