Emotional Inertia

A body in motion tends to stay in motion and a body at rest tends to stay at rest unless acted upon by an external force.  This is the explanation of inertia that I memorized in high school.  It applies to astronomical bodies like stars and planets.  But recently I realized that it can apply to other things such as emotional attachments.

A year ago I was sure that Hillary Clinton would be the Democrat nominee for President in 2008.  I was all for her.  I was also sure that since George W Bush had screwed the Republican Party so far into the ground that Hillary would be our next President...  Then came Barack Obama.

I had learned about Barack Obama when he ran for the U. S. Senate.  So, when Obama was thinking about running for President I believed he could be a great President because being a good President is about judgment and temperament, not experience in Washington.  George W. Bush's people had tons of experience and look how they screwed up!  I just didn't believe that Obama had any chance against the Clintons.  I wrote a blog in October of 2006 called "Walk. Don't Run" in which I expressed my belief, among other concerns, that Hillary was unbeatable.  Instead, at the end, in nearly a tie, Obama squeaked out a victory.  (Yay!)  (I actually believe that the popular vote should decide the nominee and in this case, Hillary would probably be the winner, although we don't really know the total popular vote because of the way caucuses are counted and the outcomes of Florida and Michigan are tainted.  Bottom line; it's most delegates that matters and Obama wins.)

Now is the time for unification of the Democrat Party but it seems that some of the Clinton supporters can't stop there emotional inertia and turn to Obama.  They are talking about voting for John McCain!  They need to be acted upon by an external force.  That force is HILLARY CLINTON!  She needs to get up and endorse Barack Obama.  She needs to say, in no uncertain terms, that anyone who votes for John McCain because Hillary lost IS AN IDIOT!  No woman who believes in the control of her own body should vote for McCain!  Mc Cain will appoint as many as THREE Supreme Court Judges.  His judges will overturn Roe v. Wade, not to mention allow further incursions on our civil liberties.  McCain will be bad on Child Care, Health Care, the Environment, Social Security, and more and more!

Ladies, Seniors, White Working Class... AMERICAN PEOPLE, OBAMA IS BETTER FOR ALL OF YOU THAN ANY REPUBLICAN!  Do you hear it?  Can you feel it?  Can we have our American Dream back?  YES WE CAN!
