The Donkey On My Back

This twenty-four hour news cycle has finally gotten to me.  I have broken my addiction and I feel free.  How many times can one sit through the same information being repeated and analyzed.  Being interested in the Presidential Election race is fine but watching five hours of TV coverage a day is too much.

This year the Democrats have a better than 50/50 chance of getting their candidate elected President.  Although I am one of those that sees both major political parties as stale and corrupt, I still prefer the Democrat.  And I have been obsessing over the desire to know who will win, so much so that I have been coming home from work every day, turning on the TV and watching all the shows on CNN and MSNBC.  (It is a waste of time to watch Fox as they are out and out propagandists and liars.  CNN seems the most even and although MSNBC seems biased toward the Democrats, it is soo much less than Fox is for the GOP.)

Last Monday I had an epiphany.  For hours the show hosts and their guests say the same things over and over about the day's events and during the five hours I watched the actual time the candidates were on the air was just a few minutes.  The rest of the time is spent with the pundits telling me what the candidates said and what it means.  I can figure that out for myself by only watching about an hour or so and making sure I hear what the candidates actually say by checking out C-SPAN.  Now I have more time to watch the shows I really enjoy like "Deal or No Deal!"
