Five Years Too Many

The United States has been fighting in Iraq for five years now.  The justification the Bush Administration used to excuse this pre-emptive action was at least flawed, if not based on lies.  Nearly 4,000 of our brave soldiers have been killed and soo many more have been injured and traumatized.  There is no possible outcome that can justify our expenditures of blood and treasure for a people that really think we are infidels, unworthy, corrupt, damned.

I don't like the idea of any people suffering needlessly and I like our way of life, but the people of Iraq need to settle their own destiny.  Many will die and suffer.  In the end, they will be better off for having worked things out on their own.  Rather than sending our people into their buzz saw, we could send aid to the needy and support refugees that flee to the nations of our allies.  If you were in need who would you appreciate most, someone who kills your cousins or someone who feeds your children?

Islamic extremists are a great danger to our way of life.  Why do we feed their hate?  We make them stronger and increase their ranks.  We must be selective.  We must attack confirmed targets of extremists and terrorists with the support of the United Nations.  NO!  We don't have to do the bidding of the U.N., but having their support increases our standing in the world.

YES!  The opinion of the other nations of our world does matter.  Remember the old saying, "You meet the same people on the way down that you met on the way up."  Look at our economy.  We are not just going down, other countries are coming up.  You watch as China and Russia grow.  We need friends or we will slowly slip away.

END THE WAR!  The terrorists win as long as we stay!  Isolate countries that pose danger to us and the free world.  Feed the hungry.  Cure the sick.  Lead by example and the countries of the world will follow... willingly!
