Dorothy, You're Still In Kansas

March 2 is my Grandmother Dorothy Parks' birthday.  She would have been 96 today.  Her body lies in a little cemetery in Olpe, Kansas.  It may not be good to rate your family in terms of love, so suffice it to say that she was in my top tier, those who earned and deserve my maximum unconditional love.  Grams, as I called her, my Mom's Mom, lived in Kansas for most, if not all of her life.  I'm not completely sure because she may have moved there when she was very little.  She was of German ancestry, but I never knew that because I was born just eight years after the end of World War II and many German-Americans avoided showing their heritage.  I think my Grandma was born in either Kansas or Missouri, I know she was an American.  She lived a pretty average American life, very much like Dorothy Gale before she went to see the Wizard of Oz.  Grams never flew over the rainbow, but she was much loved by all her friends and I miss her most of all!

I love you Grams!  Give my Mom a kiss for me.
