Ten Years After, Thirty-eight Years Later

A rock group called Ten Years After recorded a song called "I'd Love To Change The World" in 1970.  I just rediscovered it about two months ago.  It is a great song written as part of the mood of protest during the war in Viet Nam.  Rather than being a song that has seen its day, it is relevant today.

It talks of the problems of that day, the poor and the economy, homosexuality, pollution, and of course, the song pleads, "Senators stop the war."  I love this country so much, but the song reminds me how ashamed I was of our government back then.  Somehow over the years I just learned to accept war, poverty, pollution, and all the rest.  It is just how things are.

Now here comes Senator Obama and his ability to motivate people to his movement.  If he can bring enough people together, like 60 to 65% of the American People, we might actually have the first chance for real change in decades, maybe since the Declaration of Independence.  Unfortunately, I am a cynic.  I'm there for you Barack, but you need a lot of people like me and I'm not sure that at the end of the day, there are enough people that will give in to this "liberal" agenda.  But we can hope!  Yes, we can!
