Happy Valentines Day, Barack!

WELL!  It's February 14, more primaries have been held and it looks like Obama has moved into the delegate count lead for the Democrat Presidential Nomination.  There are some big states coming up but because of proportional allocation of delegates, he just has to finish close to Hillary to maintain his lead.  55 to 45 in the big states will do it, if he takes all the little states and it looks like he will.  No matter what, it will probably be very close.

I have followed politics since I was in high school.  I soo did not want Nixon after LBJ.  I soo did not want Reagan after Carter.  But we got them both.  If all the young people who could vote, did, the Democrat would win.  Unfortunately, the young people who do vote are young Republicans!  They are organized.  Young Democrats like to party but they don't show up to vote for the candidate they would choose if they did vote.  This year seems different.  This year there is Barack Obama.  And the young people seem energized.

Does anyone really understand how important to the history of the United States a Black President would be?  Especially a man who would hold as one of his prime directives the reestablishment of good relations with all the nations of the world.?  It could symbolize the beginning of the return from the mountaintop for all Black People and with them all the downtrodden minorities.  A Black President would be a shining example of the greatness of our diversity and it will prove that any American can truly aspire to any personal goal with a chance for success.  If history only records him as an average President, then he will have been a huge success.  One day all our people may truly accept MLK's premise that we should be judged, not by the color of our skin, but the content of our character.

So, I send this Valentine out to Barack with love.  Be my President!
