That Blows!

      I was watching some men from a landscaping company working around my apartment building the other day.  It reminded me of when I did that job for a summer when I was a teenager.  The only difference was that today they all use leaf blowers.  Those machines are a blight on humanity.  I have heard of communities that have banned them and I agree wholeheartedly.

      Landscapers like the leaf blowers because they shorten up the time it takes to get the job done.  I watched as one man blew the leaves out off the bushes and another blew the grass clippings off the sidewalk.  When I used to do the job we had rakes, brooms, and shovels.  We actually cleaned up all the leaves and clippings.  I watched sadly as these guys blew it all into the street.  It was sad... soo sad!

      But I will never get used to the noise.  Lawn mowers are bad enough.  The leaf blowers just kick it up a notch and annoy the heck out of me.  If I were in charge I'd outlaw them.  If I ever owned a property that needed landscaping, I'd pay extra for the brooms and rakes.
