Noisy Neighbors

I do not understand how anyone can live in this crowded world today without understanding about respect for your neighbors. Most of the time when people are being a bad neighbor, it's because they did not think their behavior through. But many people who do not understand how to be a good neighbor don't really care what anyone else thinks and find the worst excuses for their behavior or become violently defensive. I always think about my neighbors and follow the golden rule.

Now that spring is here people are popping out of their homes like skunks from their dens. They are sawing, hammering, fixing cars, burning stuff, and then there are the dogs. I live next to three noisy neighbors and it is truly hurting my quality of life.

My apartment building lies right on the property line with several homes. My only two windows face their back yards. Unfortunately for me, the back yard is where most homeowners do their dirty work. It is much worse this year than last year.

The first of my bad neighbors builds stuff. Last Saturday I was home and I just wanted to relax. I was in bed sound asleep, a rare occasion for me, when I was awakened to the excruciating sound of a wailing, ringing circular saw. rrrrrrrrrr RRRRRRR EEEEEEE ING ING ing ing! 7 AM 20 feet from my open window! That was just the first piece. Though I prayed it would stop, it went on for over an hour. Then it stopped. Thank God! Oh, but that wasn't all. Oooo noooo! Hammering. drilling, I guess it's just not my day.

Another neighbor keeps the cab of his eighteen wheeler at home. Every morning at 5:30 AM he starts it up and let's it run for up to an hour before he drives away. This morning the wind was just right and the fumes blew right through my windows. Oh, I love the smell of diesel in the morning, it makes me feel like killing somebody! This evening as I arrived home, I noticed he was working on it. Since I sat down at my computer it has been running constantly. Every once in a while he revs it up and holds it for about a minute. The wind is still just right and black smoke is coming through my windows. There's nothing like fresh air and this is nothing like fresh air!

The last one is the worst. My neighbor with the barking dogs. Five or six times a day these two small noise machines are released to the back yard. And what do they do? They run right to the fence closest to my building barking all the way. They bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark... At some point the owner barks at them which I bet the dogs feel is some sort of pack behavior because they just go right on; bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark... They do not stop until they are taken inside. I think they even pee and poop while they are barking! They must. Honestly, they never stop barking.

My apartment neighbors are great. Occasionally the kids scream and run down the hall but, compared to the three enemies of my happiness, that is music to my ears. I'm going to move soon. With my luck my new neighbors will be worse! Please NOOOOO!
