My Boss Got Fired Today

We worked so hard together every day. We tried to follow the rules. We went above and beyond the call. But my boss couldn't meet the expectations of our superiors. I ask the question, "If a person works as hard as he can, why should he be fired?" Instead, shouldn't his superiors look at themselves as the failure? Why didn't they take this person who tried so hard and train them to do better?

Personally I have no problem firing someone who doesn't work hard, but my boss Joe, my friend Joe worked hard. I am stunned and heartbroken over this. Am I the next to go, even though I try my best every single day?
