I Saw Stacy Keach

He is an actor who has done lots of movies and TV. He had his own short-lived series, "Mike Hammer - Private Detective." He wrote and starred in the movie "The Long Riders" and starred in "Gray Lady Down." His filmography lists over 100 movies and 50 TV shows and appearances. Still, a lot of people, maybe most people, don't recognize him. I did.

I was working one day and one of my cohorts came to me. He said there was a customer at the counter that needed my expertise. I walked out of the back room and toward the older man. I recognized him immediately, but I acted like usual; as if he was any other customer. And I did my job well, as usual.

After he left, another coworker nearby came up to me all excited. "Did you know who that was?" He asked.

"Yes." I said.

The guy who originally called me out said, "Who was it?"

Then the excited guy says, "That was George Lucas! He made Raiders of the Lost Ark!"

Smiling on the outside but laughing hysterically on the inside, I went back to work and did my job well, as usual.

A few days later, Mr. Keach came back to pick up the work I did for him. My coworker who originally didn't know who the guy was came back to me. He said, "George Lucas is back to see you. He said his name is Keach. He probably just doesn't want to be recognized!"

It was so hard to go out to him. I just wanted to laugh so hard. Somehow I controlled myself. I finished explaining everything to him. And then, just before we parted, I said calmly, "I'm a big fan."

With an appreciative smile he said, "Thanks," and left. I went back to work... as usual.
