Katrina

I would like to send out my deepest sympathy to all those affected by the killer storm named Katrina.

This disaster has proven to me once again that our President and the Republican Party is blind to the real problems of Americans, especially those in the lower middle-class and poor.  His delay in sending help to the storm area may have cost hundreds of lives!  He has spent billions of dollars on a war that cannot be won in an area of the world where people hate America, but not American money.  Does anyone but me wish we could get our money back and send it to all those suffering people right here in our own country?

This disaster has also proven the vulnerability of poor people in this country.  A disproportionate amount of people who are poor died because they did not have the financial means to get away or anywhere to go, and those who survived will be the last to get their lives back on track.  This government does not care about the poor.  They only care about getting more for the well-to-do at the expense of the poor.  This government expects people who do not have any idea of how to help themselves to help themselves.

Trickle-down Theory - Flood the rich with money and hope a little trickles down to the poor.  (Trickle is right!)
